Taylor Swift Beats Lil’ Wayne’s “The Carter III” First-Week Sales

Lil Wayne has held the title as the only musician to sell more than a million copies in his first week since Tha Carter III hit shelves in 2008, but he’s forfeited his crown to Taylor Swift.

The country-pop star’s newest album Speak Now debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart this week, selling a staggering 1,047,000 copies, the largest sales week since 50 Cent’s The Massacre moved 1,141,000 units in March 2005.

Swift not only joined the milli club, but she also earned the second-largest sales week of a country album since 1991. Garth Brooks is the only artist since then to cross the seven-figure mark, selling 1,085,000 copies of his 1998 album Double Live in its opening week.

Weezy is set to be released from Rikers Island soon, and Mack Maine confirmed to MTV that a major bash in his honor will go down this Sunday in Miami.

“It’s gonna be crazy. We have a private party first and then we going to King of Diamonds after, which is a strip club. It’s going to be crazy, it’s going to be real elegant, extravagant, we gonna party like when Frank came home, like the movie ‘King of New York,’ ” Maine explained. “It should be a lot of beautiful women, just … beautiful scenery. Just treat him like a king, like the royalty that he is and make him feel like we really missed him and welcome him back to the family, basically.”

“Everybody’s just happy that he’s coming home,” he said. “It’s been a It’s been a rough eight months, period, and he’s the leader of the tribe.”

Birdman called Big Boy’s radio station in Los Angeles earlier and spoke on Lil Wayne’s release from Rikers Island. Baby gave a rundown of Tunechi’s itinerary over the next couple days, but said they still plan to pop bottles and look at these models. Shouts to RR! One of Lil Wayne’s first orders of business once he returns to the studio will be recording a remix for Nicki Minaj. The Young Money femcee said that plans are underway for Weezy to remix a Pink Friday album cut.

“I think that he’s definitely going to be doing a remix, as he was in jail when I recorded Pink Friday,” Nicki told DJ Skee on 102.7 KIIS FM’s “New Music Show.” “He’s not on Pink Friday, so I will definitely want to get his little butt in the studio to do a remix right away.”

She didn’t say which song he would be remixing, but when Skee suggested an entire album, Nicki replied, “The Lil Wayne remix Pink Friday album.”

The Harajuku Barbie has spoken with the recently released YM chief, who was in Arizona today for a court appearance. “He’s doing well. He’s in great spirits. He’s always upbeat,” shared Nicki, who is excited to reunite with her boss. “I’ll see him on Sunday. I cannot wait! I just can’t wait to hug him and stuff.”

Wayne will celebrate his homecoming with his Cash Money-Young Money family at a party hosted by his record label in Miami this Sunday, and may appear at Drake’s “Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour” closer tomorrow in Las Vegas.

According to TMZ (who got their hands on Wayne’s probation documents), Lil Wayne is not allowed to consume one single drop of alcohol, prohibited from knowingly associating with any person engaged in criminal activity or any person with a criminal record, and cannot possess illegal drugs, toxic vapors or controlled substances for the next 36 months. If Weezy violates any of these terms, then he could be sent back to prison to serve out the remainder of his term. Tune will also be required to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
